Haley is a Speech-Language Pathologist at Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center and has served in that role for nearly 3 years. She currently works from our North Street location and provides therapeutic services to a wide range of individuals from grade school children to young adults. She brings a depth of experience to BHSC including treatment of speech and language fluency issues, as well as communication and swallowing disorders.
Prior to joining the BHSC team, Haley earned both her undergraduate and Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. She began her studies in nursing, but was attracted to speech-language pathology and the monumental difference it makes in people’s lives. Today, she says her work is very rewarding because she sees the developmental growth firsthand.
“Communication is so important in staying connected with other people,” she explains. “I enjoy being able to help our clients strengthen those connections and enhance their quality of life.”
When asked the question, “What are some of your favorite memories so far at BHSC?” Haley laughed. She then answered, that it would have to be the funny things her young clients say as they make more and more progress in speech and language therapies. Haley notes that’s how she measures her success, watching clients grow from the time they start working with her to being able to express themselves loud and clear.
A Buffalo resident, Haley advises those interested in a career in speech-language pathology to keep an open mind because there are so many opportunities within the profession. “First, you need to be caring and want to help people,” she says. “But there are many fields within the field of speech and language therapy, so you can specialize in areas in which you are most interested.”
Outside of work, Haley enjoys running and outdoor activities as well as traveling to other cities in the US. She is also involved in dog rescue initiatives in the Buffalo area.
