We’re proud to share the completion of a major clinic transformation at Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center – one that directly improves how we care for our patients today and strengthens how we serve them in the future.
Made possible through funding from the Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program (SHCFTP), these updates were designed to create a more accessible, efficient, and supportive experience for every individual who walks through our doors.
What’s New at Our Buffalo Clinic
This project focused on improving both our physical space and how care is delivered within it, especially for patients who may face mobility challenges or require more specialized support. These upgrades also enhance our ability to provide more individualized care across key services, including hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and pediatric audiology.
Key improvements include:
· New hearing suites designed for patient comfort and ease. Patients no longer need to move between a sound booth and a separate exam room—care can now be delivered in one space, creating a more seamless experience, especially for patients with mobility limitations.
· A brand-new pediatric booth with updated diagnostic equipment. This space includes an extra-wide entrance to better accommodate wheelchairs and strollers, ensuring more accessible care for children and families.
· Improved accessibility throughout the clinic and building. New ADA-compliant automatic doors make it easier for all patients to enter and navigate the space safely and independently.
· Enhanced safety and security systems. Upgraded access controls, fire alarm, and camera systems help protect both our patients and students, creating a safer environment for everyone.
· HVAC upgrades for improved comfort. These systems help maintain a more consistent and comfortable environment throughout the clinic.
What This Means for Our Patients
At its core, this transformation is about removing barriers to care.
“These improvements allow us to provide a more accessible and patient-centered experience. Whether it’s reducing the need for patients to move between spaces, improving access for wheelchairs and strollers, or enhancing comfort and safety throughout the clinic, every update was made with our patients’ needs in mind.” — Amy Bamrick, Director of Clinical Services
These updates make a meaningful difference in the day-to-day experience of the individuals and families we serve.
Supporting Long-Term Sustainability
Beyond improving patient experience, this project also plays an important role in the long-term sustainability of Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center.
Funding for capital improvements like these allows us to continue providing essential services to vulnerable populations—especially in areas where reimbursements alone are not always sufficient to support the level of care needed.
Special thanks to the Cummings Foundation and Mother Cabrini Foundation, whose generous contributions have supported these important improvements and our continued commitment to patient-centered care.
By investing in our space, we’re strengthening our ability to continue serving the community with high-quality audiology and speech-language services for years to come.
Looking Ahead
This project marks a major step forward, but it’s just the beginning.
We’re excited to continue building on this work and expanding how we serve our community in ways that feel supportive, inclusive, and accessible for everyone. To learn more or schedule an appointment, call (716) 885-8318 to see how our audiology services can support your needs.
